Maintenance Foundation Course


Purpose

To give the participants the basic knowledge regarding the maintenance activities required to optimise the asset availability, reliability and integrity in the petrochemical Industry.

Objectives

By the end of the course the participants will be able to:

  • State the objectives of maintenance, and strategies for optimizing the maintenance effort
  • Understand the concept of asset management
  • Understand the Risk concept
  • Understand the different failure modes
  • Understand maintenance techniques for specific plant equipment (rotating, static, electric, instrument) and their maintenance problems (monitoring, preventive, run to failure, etc.)
  • Understand the tools like Reliability Centred maintenance, Risk based Inspection and Safety Instrumented Functions. (Safeguarding).
  • Identify organizational structures and their impact on availability, Reliability and Integrity.
  • Understand shut-down management
  • Recognize procedures and procedural issues
  • Recognize the importance of Data and appreciate the concept of performance monitoring
  • Recognize the importance of Maintenance management systems (Close the loop)
  • Understand commercial and economic aspects of maintenance
  • Apply relevant HSE aspects

This course can also be presented on site. The course content and lecture can also be "tailor made" to ensure that the most relevant subjects per site will be addressed in an adequate way and the technical level is adjusted to suit the competence of the participants.
