Introduction to Materials and Corrosion

Introduction

The course "Introduction to Corrosion" will cover the basics of material selection and the different types of corrosion and degradation followed by all the corrosion mechanisms in the refining/petrochemical industry.
Also corrosion prevention, corrosion monitoring, quality and failure analysis and FFS (Fit For Service Analysis) will be covered.

Designed for:

The course is designed for starting corrosion engineers, inspection engineers and maintenance/operations staff who are involved with materials and corrosion issues.

Objectives:

This course will develop competencies (skills and knowledge) in the following areas:

  • Basics of corrosion
  • The different corrosion mechanisms
  • Specific corrosion and degradation in the petrochemical industry
  • Corrosion prevention, monitoring and control
  • Materials selection. Quality issues relating to materials
  • Failure analysis
  • The risk-based inspection (RBI) process in relation to Integrity Management.

Information for Participants:
Suitable candidates should be working in any of the areas of corrosion engineering, inspection, reliability engineering, maintenance or operations

Export:
This course can also be offered as a one week export course tailored to the specific needs of the customer e.g. for gas/LNG plants, refineries, petrochemical plants, etc.
